Our History
About our Founder, James Kerby
James Kerby’s journey in architecture and land development is a story of vision, innovation, and transformative impact. He began his career in 1981 with Grey-Breeder Design Group Architects in Austin, Texas, quickly rising to become a partner by 1983. Driven by a desire to shape spaces that inspire and endure, James founded The Cornerstone Group Architects in 1985, a firm that remains a cornerstone of architectural excellence in Central Texas. His passion for creating communities led him to shift focus in 1993, founding Lynx Development, Ltd., where he began shaping the future of Central Texas real estate.
Over the years, James has left an indelible mark on the Central Texas region, founding Kerby Ventures, and playing a pivotal role in the development of vibrant residential neighborhoods, mixed-use communities, and essential infrastructure. From crafting over 8,000 homesites and six golf courses in areas like Austin, Pflugerville, and Marble Falls to envisioning projects in Park City, Utah, and Florida. In 2011, his expertise expanded into medical and hospitality development, culminating in the creation of the Lakeway Regional Medical Campus, a vital hub for the area.
James’ visionary leadership reached new heights in 2019 with the launch of Lakeside Meadows, a master-planned development in Pflugerville that represents his most ambitious project yet. Combining national homebuilders, multi-family housing, a 163-acre light industrial site near the Amazon Distribution Center, and a corporate campus poised to attract major regional employers, Lakeside Meadows is a testament to James’ ability to balance innovation with community needs. Through every endeavor, James Kerby has consistently shaped environments where people can live, work, and thrive, leaving a legacy of thoughtful development across Central Texas residential real estate and beyond.
